Kidney Support Groups

Kidney Support Groups are small, informal groups that meet regularly discuss issues related to kidney disease and transplantation. The focus is on providing support to the patient dealing with kidney disease, and their family and friends. Kidney transplant recipients, or those on a waiting list are welcome, as are those on kidney dialysis. Occasionally some of the sessions will be led by a guest speaker, such as a doctor, nurse, social worker, dietician, etc.

In Central Virginia, the Kidney Support Group meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each Month at the Foundation's Affiliate offices, 2601 Willard Road, Suite 103, in Richmond.

In Charleston, WV there's a Transplant/Dialysis support group that meets at 7PM on the 2nd. Tuesday of each month at the Charleson Area Medical Center, room 101-102. Contact Jennifer Bragg at 304-388-7581 or e-mail her at: jennifer.bragg@camc.org You can also contact Buddy Kearns at 304-949-3575.

For general information about support groups contact Eleanor Myers at 804-288-8342, or 1-888-KIDNEY8.   If you live in the Richmond metropolitan area please contact our Central Virginia Regional Office and ask for Gail Simpson or Julia Esdale Wright - at the same number(s).
